Featured on the cover of Bartender Magazine

I'm so excited to announce that my mixed media art Cocktail Hour 1 is being featured on the Spring 2018 cover of Bartender Magazine. This is my second magazine cover and I think it's so fitting to be on a bar tending magazine. This series is 15 pieces, all variations of colors with the same design.

August! Showing at Hapa Sushi in downtown Denver
Summer Triumphs and Tragedies

Hello!

Is summer really coming to an end already? I can hardly believe how fast these last few months have blown by. I know it's coming to a close though, as I get ready for all the things my two high schooler's need for school. I hope you you enjoyed your summer.

I decided I would share a few triumphs and tragedies with you. I will get the bad parts over with first.

I saved my money and slowly bought components for my new computer build. It's very powerful, I wanted it to be able to handle working with multiple programs running. I also want to start making my own vectors from scratch, digital paintings and fractal art. Unfortunately, for reasons beyond my IT man's control, (my husband), the computer has had issues since it was built. Parts have been replaced and we thought it was all fixed. I found out it wasn't. when I plugged in my Nikon D3100 and it fried the computer board and circuitry. My poor camera, less than two years old...died a premature death. I've since learned, that using a card reader is a far safer way to download the pictures to a computer. Moving on, my camera is dead, and my computer is still not fixed. One thing at a time, soon I will be taking my computer to a professional and have them fix it! I don't want to plug anything into it and take a chances of more death of peripherals. Once the computer is fixed, I start saving for my next camera.

I am not a person that is attached to things. I regularly whip through my house and start donating things that are not being used to local thrift shops. I have to say, when my camera died...I was devastated. It can't be compared to losing a person, but I experienced a deep loss. I was surprised at my deeply emotional reaction.

Triumphs!

My career is definitely picking up...=) As I make more connections locally and explore licensing venues, I get more excited about how my art is reaching out into the world.

I recently was contacted by an art collector. She gave me the most beautiful compliments about my work. I do believe I will hold onto the words "Thank you for making art for home" as long as I live. I feel quite honored and humbled by these 7 words.

This month, my art is being featured in Hapa Sushi in downtown Denver. I recently had a reception, I am showing you some photos of the art hanging and friends that came to join me at the event. If you live in the area...feel free to come by. If you email me, I bet I could meet you there! =D

I don't post many of my paintings to my website. I favor metallic paint and I don't feel that photographs represent the paintings well.

I'm really proud of the work I have done recently. I feel like I have hit on a subject that I will continue to explore. The universe, galaxies. The beauty of outer space has always drawn me in, that's part of my I am such a huge sci-fi nerd. As I was making the piece Across The Universe...I felt a kind of excitement and accomplishment that I had not ever experienced while painting.

I have recently started a few different series. One is for the Lady, the Gentleman, Prince and Princess. I am continuing my ornate medallion series and expressions of adoration for songs I love.

It's been a very exciting year. In April, my art was feature on the cover of Nature Biotechnology. I have been exploring my mediums in fresh and interesting ways. My art became the cover of a poetry chap book. I've had some fantastic 1st's. =D

My Best Selling work.

Littleton Cafe

September 29th, 2011

I have just issued this press release:

October 8th the Littleton Cafe will be holding a "meet and greet" for local artist Angelina Vick. Mrs. Vick will be there from 12pm to 3pm. She will also be bringing larger pieces specifically for the event, and offering a 10% discount on her work. Mrs. Vick is delighted to have her work shown in Littleton Cafe, as it is a place she frequently dines with her family. She enjoys the family atmosphere of the cafe and believes her art is a perfect complement to it.

September 28th, 2011 Angelina Vick's long term installation at the Littleton Cafe began showing. Currently hanging are 8 pieces: a combination of photography prints, painting prints, and mixed media originals. Littleton Cafe owners Dave and Becky Allen were excited at the opportunity to show support for a local artist. The Littleton Cafe is open 7 days a week from 6 AM-3PM and located at 1409 W. Littleton Blvd, Littleton, Colorado.

Mrs. Vick recently moved to Colorado with her family. A multimedia artist, she focuses primarily on photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. Mrs. Vick describes her inspiration as this: "The world is a place filled with endless wonders. In my art, I explore nature, animals, create from music and words that move me. I outwardly ponder the spiritual nature of what surrounds me. I find myself on a quest to discover how long, how wide, how deep and how high? It's mostly about my passions...and I am a passionate person."

I am quite excited as I enter into this venture, and happy I can show my art locally.

Dont Panic

August 18th, 2011

Those words mean a lot to me, but not for normal reasons. It’s in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Every time it’s used, it is a time when most people would panic, and the book repeatedly points out that’s it’s not going to help you if you panic. So now…when I get in situation where I feel like panicking, I think to myself…don’t panic. Seems simple right? Not always. What I love about that is the fact that, is how every book I read becomes a part of me. The words, the ideas, the characters…and in turn, I think it makes me a more rounded person.

To let words changes you takes some vulnerability. Really thinking about what they mean, how you feel about them, deciding if you think it’s true. It’s a cost completely worth the price. There is so much wisdom rolling around that we haven’t learned yet. Words make the world a better place. I came across this today in a friends FB status. I thought it was beautiful.

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all………
Emily Dickinson

Remember, don’t panic.

I wrote a new bio

June 6th, 2011

A friends recently pointed out to me that my bio doesn't say anything about my art.

Writing about myself is painful. I sound boring in my own ears. However, I tried to think about my motivation for making art.
I hope it helps people connect to what I do.

Moving on to bigger and better things

September 13th, 2010

I have been experimenting with so many different facets of art for many years now. However, I believe I need to step up my game a bit. In addition to learning Photoshop I am going to start seriously educating myself on photography and taking classes for it. I am also starting to save up for my first D-SLR. Hopefully it won't take painfully long....=)

What Is Going On Recently

August 28th, 2010

As you can see from my work. I am a multimedia artist. Photography is something I have always loved. Painting is a loved that developed in the past 10 years, and digital art is a very recent love. Integrating them together is probably the most fun I have. However, digital art is very difficult for me. I don't know if it's my attention span or what...but it's extremely difficult for me to remember where things are in PS and the sequences that have to be followed to do things. SO....I am reading a manual over 800 pages long...=/...so I can make better manipulate my photos and paintings...and hopefully one day start making some pure digital art.

I doubt most artists work on a painting....take some photographs...and learn digital programs in the same day..but that's just the way I am.

I am rebuilding all my collage pieces in PS now...and the clarity is quite improved. =)

I did a photo shoot in Commerce TX....and got a bunch of duck photos! Will be uploading them soon.

I have recently become another writing contributor on 1st Angel. Come check it out.
